Explanation
On August 12, 2014, the state government of Andhra Pradesh chose the city of Vijayawada as the ad hoc capital of the state. This decision was taken after the state of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into two states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The city of Hyderabad, which was the capital of Andhra Pradesh, became the capital of Telangana. In order to establish a new capital for Andhra Pradesh, the state government decided to designate Vijayawada as the temporary capital until a permanent capital could be built.
