The current Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in India is Justice Arun Kumar Mishra, who assumed the office on 9th September 2021.

The NHRC is a statutory body established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, to protect and promote human rights in India. The Chairperson of NHRC is appointed by the President of India on the recommendation of a high-level committee headed by the Prime Minister. The term of the Chairperson is five years or until the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
