Explanation
Olive Ridley sea turtles are primarily found on the sea coast of Odisha state in India. Every year, thousands of these turtles come ashore on the beaches of Odisha for mass nesting.
During the months of November to December, these turtles arrive in large numbers to the beaches of Odisha, particularly at Gahirmatha, Rushikulya, and Devi river mouth, to lay their eggs. This phenomenon is known as the Arribada or the mass nesting of Olive Ridley turtles.
While Odisha is the primary site for mass nesting of Olive Ridley turtles in India, these turtles can also be found in smaller numbers along the coasts of other Indian states such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal. However, the mass nesting of Olive Ridley turtles is primarily limited to the state of Odisha.
