Explanation
The recently passed Hindu Marriage Bill by Pakistan Senate will not be applicable in the province of Sindh. This is because Sindh has its own Hindu Marriage Act, which was passed in 2016. The Sindh Hindu Marriage Act provides for the registration of marriages between Hindus and for the safeguarding of their rights, including the right to divorce, maintenance, and custody of children. As a result, the new national Hindu Marriage Bill will not supersede the existing law in Sindh. However, the new national law will apply to the other provinces of Pakistan, including Punjab, Baluchistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
