Mohammed Shami is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who made his ODI debut for India in 2013. He achieved the milestone of taking 100 ODI wickets in just 56 matches, becoming the fastest Indian bowler to reach this feat. He achieved this milestone during the third ODI against Australia in Canberra in December 2020.
Before Shami, the record of the fastest Indian bowler to take 100 ODI wickets was held by the legendary Indian spinner, Ravindra Jadeja, who had achieved this feat in 52 matches. However, Shami broke this record by achieving the milestone in just 56 matches, showing his skill and consistency as a bowler.
Jasprit Bumrah, another fast bowler from India, took 57 matches to reach 100 ODI wickets, while the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took 71 matches to achieve this feat.
