Explanation
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) administers the oath to the President of India.
As per the Indian Constitution, the President of India is elected by an Electoral College comprising elected members of both houses of Parliament and elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of States. After the election, the President-elect is required to take an oath of office before entering upon their duties.
The oath of office for the President of India is prescribed in the Third Schedule of the Constitution. The Chief Justice of India administers the oath of office and secrecy to the President-elect in a special ceremony held in the Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India.
During the ceremony, the President-elect reads out the oath of office and secrecy in the presence of the Chief Justice of India and other dignitaries. After taking the oath, the President is considered to have assumed office and can begin performing their duties as the head of state and commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed Forces.
Therefore, the Chief Justice of India is the person who administers the oath to the President of India.
