The campaign is a global civil society coalition that aims to promote the total elimination of nuclear weapons through advocacy and awareness-raising activities. ICAN has played a key role in efforts to negotiate and adopt the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which was approved by the United Nations in 2017.
