Explanation
The Panjab University was actually founded in Lahore, which is now in Pakistan, in the year 1882. At that time, it was called the University of the Punjab and was one of the oldest universities in the Indian subcontinent. However, after the partition of India in 1947, the university was split into two separate institutions: Panjab University, located in Chandigarh, and the University of the Punjab, located in Lahore. Panjab University was officially established in its current location in Chandigarh on April 14, 1958.
