Explanation
Section 304-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) deals with the offense of dowry death. It provides for punishment in cases where a woman dies under unnatural circumstances within seven years of marriage and it is shown that she was subjected to cruelty or harassment by her husband or his relatives in connection with a demand for dowry.
Under Section 304-B, if the death of a woman occurs within seven years of marriage and is shown to be a result of cruelty or harassment for dowry, the accused individuals can be charged with dowry death.
