Explanation
Provisions for reservation of women are provided in local self-bodies, such as Panchayats and Municipal bodies, as per the 73rd and 74th amendments to the Constitution.
However, there is no provision for reservation of women in the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, or State Legislative Assemblies. Though, the Women's Reservation Bill, which aims to reserve one-third of all seats in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies for women, has been proposed several times but has not been passed by the Parliament yet.
