(A) Section 370
Section 370 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) defines the offense of trafficking of persons. This section covers various aspects related to human trafficking and provides legal provisions to combat this crime.
According to Section 370, whoever recruits, transports, harbors, transfers, or receives a person by using threat, force, coercion, abduction, fraud, or deception, or by abusing their power or position, for the purpose of exploitation, shall be punished for the offense of trafficking of persons. The section also specifies different forms of exploitation, such as forced labor, slavery, sexual exploitation, or organ removal.
It's important to note that while sections such as 370A, 370B, and 370C also exist in the IPC and deal with specific aspects of human trafficking, Section 370 is the primary section that defines and addresses the offense of trafficking of persons.
