Explanation
Annie Besant was associated with Theosophical Society. She was a prominent British theosophist, women's rights activist, and Indian independence leader. She became a member of the Theosophical Society in 1889 and eventually became its international president in 1907. Through the Theosophical Society, she became interested in Eastern religions, including Hinduism and Buddhism, and played an important role in introducing these ideas to the Western world.
